Thread: Looking for the right sound and chords

Cool Looking for the right sound and chords

I have been busy for some time to play this song on my acoustic guitar.
It's not easy because there is so little information on the Internet to find. And U2 is playing this song almost never live or there no recordings made.
Especially the tuning and the right tabs/chords are hard to find.
And why is there almost nothing to find on U2 GT?
Is song not interesting enough to play are ohter songs preferred?
    And there is a light

Lol, ofcourse it is. I like almost all u2 tracks, there's only few i dont like or dont like to play ( i wont mention those, as i dont want to step on any toes).

Did you check mick3b1g on youtube? You can often copy his playing by checking his vids.

All songs on Achtung Baby except Mysterious ways and Love is blindness are in standard tuning. Those 2 are in Eb.

I just mention it because you said that especially the tuning was hard to find on the web. A good tip is to just play along to the song, just bar chords, and then you'll quickly see if it's Standard or Eb. It can be a bit more difficult to see the tuning on live versions of Pride or Sunday Bloody Sunday from the last few decades lol (because they are tuned down even more)

I would start by looking at the chords here

Supposedly this was posted in Propaganda (U2 fanzine as I'm sure you know). If I play along to this song I will move up on octave on the fretboard, so for the typical chord I would use 14th fret on G and B strings, and then 14th fret on G string and 15th fret on B string.

Or change it to 10th fret B string and 9th fret E string (thin). And 10th fret both B and E string for the second part of that riff if we can call it that. There is also a Guitar Pro tab file here that you can take a look at if you have the GP software.

I absolutely love the song, always have, but I haven't played it much. Other songs are more guitar-driven, and maybe that's why I mostly just listen to it

I also love this song. So simple yet so powerful. I've read it just flowed off the page, fingers, vocals etc and practically wrote itself during the very difficult AB sessions. I have never tried to nail the album version but have used by looper and done some acoustic versions, great fun.

Ahh, that version. I didn't think of that. I can't say I like much of the U2 stripped down acoustic stuff, and not this version either. That said, I played along to it with my acoustic and it's normal tuning. You can see him going to the E major. Hold 7th fret D string and 6th fret G string and play with open strings (except for the E strings?). And go to 7th fret on both D and G strings. Try that
