Album Intro Loop?

I just got the new Sonos Ace headphones. I thought I would test them out with the ATMOS Achtung Baby on iTunes. Sounds great. Anyway, for the intro of EBTTRT- I have never noticed it before, but I think that the guitar is clipped and looped for the intro riff. I don't think that Edge played it in the studio like he does live with the repeating whammy riff. I think he played it once and they looped it. I am interested if others agree and if this is news, or something everyone already realized except for me.

hmmmm good question. I always thought, that they are looped. I remember, when the song came out, I bought this black remixes CD, which was kind of rare at that time and I was super proud. (apollo and other sort-of-dance remixes, which I really dislike these days), where it was very obvious, that the guitar riff is looped. So I just figured, that it is the same for the album version.
(on a different note, I thought i looked weird, when he played the intro during the E&I tour without pushing the whammy himself - either envelope or dallas downstairs?)

Personally I think it was looped on the original recording.

So when I saw them playing in Toronto on that tour I recall my seats being near Dallas. I want to say he was on the main stage, and the band was on that bridge or B stage. As they were playing the song and the whammy was being played, I noticed it wasn’t the Edge. Then I recall seeing Dallas up on the main stage in the dark using the Whammy for Edge. At the time I thought it was pretty funny.
