I was reading at your posts about KORG A2, A3, ...
And then I wonder :is it possible that my Korg A5 has something to do (in common) with such machines
And then I have looked at ebay, just for fun

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Korg-A5-GTR-Guitar-Performance-Signal-Processor-Effects-Pedal-Board-Vintage-/170699468437?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27be7b2e95

Tell me , this is not the reality ? I am dreaming ?

Just to explain.
I have one of these. About new. It is currently by my nephew, who is learning guitar.
It has been my only multieffects before the M9 and now the HD500.
The sound is pretty good, with some interested possibilities. Delays are not bad at all.
It is all plastic, but it works perfectly after more than 20 years.
This is why I am now slowly thinking that I am making maybe a mistake :o
Could you please confirm me that this is a piece of crap which have nothing to do at all with A2 and A3

I also lend my nephew an old tokai which looks about like an explorer, with 2 Humbuckers. This guitar has been given to me by my japanese neighbour when I was student in Paris. The guitar is almost sure direct from Japan. She has me once heard me playing guitar, knocked on the door, and explained to me that she needed not anymore this guitar. Very nice girl I must say.
should I also consider to make some enquiry, or is it just an other piece of crap ?

Tokai can be very decent, manu! Don't think of it as a piece of crap! Some Tokais are better than originals.
Some people have Tokai lp's and speak highly of them..

Get it back and play it for a while. Check how its built..

I would give it a look (the guitar is on the south of france, and I am on the north )
I would try to find a picture of it, and ask my nephew to bring it back the next time he comes.
I just can say that it is a tokai, not exactly like an explorer, but clearly "Metal music" shape. Two Humbuckers.
It comes from Japan, because this nice girl was from there and goes back regularly to visit her family there, but I don't know if the guitar was build in Japan.
The guitar has been giving to me around 1990.

Regarding the A5, i have seen a lot of them selling for about 30-50€. I don't have any hope, but I was a nice machine for discovering multieffect. Very reliable.

I gave a look at Tokai registry.
The guitar is probably from the eighties (1984-1986).
Serie F55/F65
Serie FV
Serie FSD (FSD50 ?)

It looks like that, but I don't have any idea of which model it is exactly.
It (is the same size as the explorer, "just" with the rear part "cutted". I don't remember if the guitars has or not tremolo

Hopefully two humbucker version. If its a decent guitar it will be a nice explorer ! Maybe swap pups for something more vintage?

The look is extrem, I must admit.
"It's the final Countdown, ta da da ta da da "

The guitar has two humbucker. I am sure of that. But I am not sure that it has tremolo. (I have not seen this guitar for at least 10 years, and I must say that it has never been a priority for me ). But I supposed it always exists !
I will ask and keep you inform , just fo fun.

(nothing about the A5 ?)

I had an A5 years ago, didn't like it one bit. It just sounds like it was built to imitate hair metal. The distortions are okay if you tweak them enough. The delay section had no mod, there is no way to get the funkwah sound with this though.

Manu, when I researched the same question regarding the A5, I came to the conclusion that it is not an acceptible A3 clone.

ps the tokai LP I have seen are great guitars. My brother in law (who is ten times the guitarist I will ever be) rates your chances of getting a good tokai LP as better than getting the genuinearticle from gibson!
