    Epiphone's Edge-ish Les Paul

Isn't this basically an Epiphone version of Edge's Gibson Les Paul from the Zoo TV tour? Like the one he used for Love Is Blindness?

Note it has a black colored back, both body and neck. Edge's is fully white, yellowed over time. Doesn't mean its not Ã* good guitar! Don't know anything about the pups. Did you try it in a shop?

I like the look of it. Grover tuners, decent bridge. My only question would be the pups - it says they are Alnico style classic humbuckers but would need to test it out in-store to see how they sound. Price is ok too.

No, I was just looking on Musician's Friend and I was like "Where have I seen that before?". But, looking back at the video Edge's doesn't have a black back. It is still a good looking guitar. I would like to see if I can try it out somewhere at a shop.

Body-wise, it does. (No black back).

But the one with the black back has the gold pickup rings.

I think that is one of the things that stand out to many of the Edge-fans.

    Tone woods
At the heart of every Les Paul Custom is great tone woods. While all Les Pauls share common design features, the Les Paul Custom differed from the Les Paul Standard in that it's body was solid mahogany without a maple cap.

Above is from Musicians Friend.... I think only the very earliest LPC had the all mahogany body... for a dark Jazzy sound. I find all-mahogany bodies too dark. The probability is that Edge's LPC is a later version and has a Maple Top under the white finish. This and the ebony fretboard give the LPC's that brighter attack. So a maple top would be my preference.

All of the reviews I've read about that black backed Epi have been bad as far as fit and finish. Also it was originally spec'ed to have an ebony fretboard, but they came with rosewood instead. I was very intrigued by this guitar when I first saw it and quite disappointed when I read the reviews.
