Actually I have two guitars, strat edge signature and les paul custom with manilus ttops. In my opinion the strat sound better and plays more confortably (neck) to play explorer songs like beutiful day. I see a lot of people that uses a lp in explorer songs, but for me i prefer strat sounds.

By other side the picks ups of the edge explorer, if he uses the standar pick ups could be super humbucker (tarbacks) and not ttops, not like most people think. I think the difference in sound between the explorer and the les paul I think it's because in one pafs and in the other tarbacks

I wouldn't be surprised if the maple cap and mahogany in the LP and Korina or mahogany in an Explorer is just as much a factor as the difference between tarbacks and t-tops

All we have to decide, is what to do with the time that is given to us.

This is most definitely a big difference. Maple topped guitars always sound and feel different than plain mahogany.

    Gibson tar back specifications:

    Inductance 4.7 Henries
    Resonant Peak 5.8 Khz
DC resistance 7.8 K ohms (at 1000 cps)
    Impedance High
    Two Active upper coils
    One Ceramic Magnet (indox 7)
    Adjustable pole pieces
    Removable pickup cover
    2 point height adjustment

Similar output like ttops, but more clarity and bright, i think...

    And remember years ago: http://forum.u2guitartutorials.com/a...hp/t-5787.html

496r and the new 496t of gibson could be a solution for explorer.
