So what now? 40 - Final Sphere show

First of all, who did the get the chance to go see The Sphere shows? I did get to one show and LOVED IT! I was on Adam's side level 200. 209?

But thinking about the final two shows, it got me thinking what is next for the band? Writing has been supposedly in progress - a new album? I'm sure there will be a full video production released from the Sphere shows. Or, is it simply each anniversary of each album comes out and they tour that?

Interesting times ahead. I will say I'm sure it was hard for Larry to watch and NOT want to get back in there!

Sure this is a silly thread of conjecture but a fun discussion on the forum as we all contemplate what's next.

I watched the live-stream of the first show and what feels like every YT recording after that. man, what a show. I am a zootv nerd, so this was pure heaven for me. And the good stuff kept on coming. Seeing Seconds live after so many year again was a treat. And then the lemon remix, jeeez this was just getting better and better. Apart from the insane setlist and the absolutely mindblowing sphere, I thought the band sounded great. Bono sounded great.
    quo vadis?
tbh, my excitement has calmed down over the last years. the last album was a complete letdown for me and even innocence didnt do a lot for me. I very rarely play any guitar these days and this forum is completely dead. I am very worried about larrys health, as I simply cannot imagine, that he let such a show go, if its not something really serious. Hopefully, I am wrong.
I am not complaining. Life goes on, and we had a great run. And who knows, maybe the magic comes back.

I hear everything you are saying- except that it makes me sad to hear you aren't playing much anymore. Make some time and just play a few tunes. I haven't been playing U2 as much as I used to, but I did fire up the gear a week ago and played along with Slane Castle "All I Want Is You" into "Streets," and it was a blast. Then I played "Running to standstill" from Sydney just because I needed to keep going. It's still amazing fun to play.

I was able to go to two shows back in December. But also, I got to go back last weekend and see them. It was amazing for sure. I do share some of your gloom about the band/Larry. Honestly, I could see you being right about his health- something looked off when he stood up and waved at the crowd from the box. But also, it wouldn't surprise me if there was some sort of a falling out, or if Larry simply didn't want to do the band anymore and they weren't able to talk him into it. Also, we have no clue how many shows he attended, or anything other than what the band shows us. So, who knows?

All I know is that I am glad that I got to see them and I love the relationship I have had with this band and their music over the years. I have gotten so much from them. They don't owe me anything at this point. Even if they put out 10 more albums that I think are ****- Achtung Baby still changed my life.

I haven't really cared for anything other than "Invisible" since "No Line." But I think that is okay. I saw some thing on Reddit not long ago about listing your top U2 albums, and like more than half of the responders were like: 1) SOI, 2) HTDAAB, 3) SOE, 4) Joshua Tree, 5) Tie between AB and Zooropa.

That blew my mind in a good way. Whatever I think of U2's catalog, there is some guy 15 years younger than me who thinks that the Sphere show should have been SOI played front to back. I like that.

What ever comes next for U2; or, if nothing comes next for U2, it's been a great ride. Dream it all up again, or Zooropa, Zooropa, it's all over.

    AMEN!

I saw it three times. Best shows I've ever seen.

    of Chicago??!!!

Yeah that blows my mind as well. I guess it is maybe connecting with a younger audience in ways we might not be seeing. Every Breaking Wave is one of their strongest 'songs' in composition I think. Raised By Wolves still gets me going on the live version with the video wall. Blackout live on SOE was still a great intro to the show.

You're right they owe us nothing. I think they proved to everyone that they were the only band to be able to pull off The Sphere so early. They teach the other bands how to do a live show and that earns them tons of respect. Look at Dave Grohl watching the show....like an amazed kid! Their legacy for live performance still will have bands trying to figure out 'how to do a Sphere show.' Best show I've ever seen. I may have teared up a couple of times thinking this might be it.

Edge is going to write. Bono will continue to write. Adam  but usually answers the phone. Larry's health - yeah well said. I think we'll see an actual album.

Just downloaded the SiriusXM recording of show 40 at the sphere.

I saw it twice and they were the two best concerts of my life. So good and it’s sad it’s over.

The recording of the concert is mediocre I would say. Could use a better mix and the audio doesn’t seem stellar in a lot of places. It’s serviceable though. You can find it over at U2Start

Cool thanks. Maybe I can master a better version of it. It was the best concert I have ever seen and so sad that moment won't be replicatable. I did go see Twice at Allegiant on Saturday, that was pretty damned good too but something about The Sphere and how U2 did it that made it magical. I can't see Phish and now maybe Eagles really doing much with the tech.

Thanks again for the note on the recording being available.

Side note, I need a bassist for a show June 14th in Calgary (casino gig) DM me if you know anyone. Our main guy has a family trip planned.

I’ve listened the live audio at the sphere concert on Sirius U2 X-radio. Does anyone know how you can save the audio to a file to listen to offline?

You'd have to record it into your DAW with a loopback channel from SiriusXM. Many audio interfaces / drivers now allow you to record from internal sources like that. Your other choice would be to patch a couple computers / interfaces together.

The5chord said it was available already. u2start.com?
